“Angels of Abney Park” was a series created in collaboration with the Abney Park Trust. Abney Park Cemetery, a very overgrown but grand Victorian cemetery in Stoke Newington, North London, inspired these pieces and gives them their power.

These angels heads are “blurring the borders between nature and the heavenly world”, creating an almost pagan perspective where the angels are angels of nature, overseeing its endless cycle of birth, death and rebirth, just as the actual plants in the cemetery are growing over the antique gravestones and grandiose monuments to the dead.
